Charles P. Brown

Like his father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Charles Brown is a native of Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina. He attended the public schools and thereafter attended the University of North Carolina, having received the prestigious John Motley Morehead Scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University, and thereafter attended the University of North Carolina School of Law where he received his J.D. in 1966.

Since joining the family firm, Charles Brown has actively participated in local and district bar associations, as well as on the state level. He has served twice as President of the Stanly County and has served twice as President of the multi-county judicial district bar.

Additionally, for more than twenty years he served as a member of the bar applicant screening panel.

For four years, Charles Brown served as Chairman of the District John Motley Morehead Committee as well as serving on regional committees for the Morehead Foundation.

Since graduating from law school, he has served on various boards at the University of North Carolina including two terms on the General Alumni Board and also on the Board of Visitors.

Additionally, he has served as President of the UNC Law Alumni Association.

Long active in community organizations and affairs, Charles Brown has served as President of the United Way, served as both a member and then for six years as Chairman of the Stanly County Board of Education. He currently is a member of the Stanly County Economic Development Commission as well as a member of the North Carolina Rural Center Board. This board oversees funding for infrastructure, job expansion and job creation in the eighty-five rural counties of North Carolina.

Charles Brown is a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church where he has served multiple terms on the congregational council, twice as president of the council. He taught Sunday School for thirty-four years and has chaired three successful capital campaigns for church renovation and expansion.

He enjoys golf, travel and North Carolina basketball.

G. Crawford Rippy, lll

Mr. Rippy graduated from Furman University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1983 from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. While in law school he was a member of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board.

Mr. Rippy joined the firm in 1989 after practicing law in Asheville, North Carolina, for six years. His practice is primarily devoted to plaintiff's personal injury and wrongful death cases and real estate. He is past president of the Stanly County Bar Association and past secretary/treasurer of the 20th Judicial District Bar Association.

      Connie graduated magna cum laude in 2000 from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a minor in Accounting.  She attended the University of North Carolina School of Law on a full tuition merit-based scholarship, and graduated with her J.D. in 2003.  During law school, she was Executive Editor of the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal, coordinator of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance group, a volunteer with the Pro Bono Program, and an active member of the Environmental Law Project.  Following law school, Connie served as clerk to the Honorable Sanford L. Steelman, Jr., at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.  

      Connie joined our firm in 2004.  She focuses her practice on personal injury and wrongful death law, estate matters, real estate, and general civil litigation.  She also serves as attorney to the City of Locust.

      Connie is a member of the Board of Directors for both Stanly County Hospice and the Community Care Clinic.

      Connie is a native of Stanly County and resides in Albemarle.  She is a member of Central United Methodist Church.

          James graduated magna cum laude from The Citadel in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2007.  

          James joined our firm in 2007.  He primarily practices in the areas of criminal litigation and traffic law.

          James is a member of the Board of Stanly County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. and the Stanly Community College Foundation Board.  He also volunteers as a Sunday School teacher at First Lutheran Church in Albemarle.  

          James and his wife, Mary, are Stanly County natives and reside in Albemarle.
